Glenda Hatchett was born on 31 May 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia USA, and is best known as a former television personality, including as the hostess of ‘’Judge Hatchett’’. Her career began in the mid-1970s.

She graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a bachelor’s degree in 1973, however, Hatchett also holds an honorary degree she received in 2000 from the college. She went on to study at Emory University School of Law where she earned a juris doctor degree in 1977. Having finished her education, Hatchett began in a coveted federal clerkship, and served as a senior attorney and public relations manager at Delta Air Lines; as the manager of public relations, Glenda was the supervisor of media relations in Europe, Asia and United States. She was one of the most successful women of color, and her efforts were recognized when she was named as one of the 100 Best and Brightest Black Women in Corporate America in 1990 by ‘’Ebony Magazine’’. Her net worth was well established.
However, she left Delta Air Lines in the same year, to accept the position of Chief Presiding Judge of Fulton County in Georgia becoming the first African-American person to serve in that position. She remained there until 2000 when she began working on the television series entitled ‘’Judge Hatchett’’, which became popular nationwide and aired for a total of nine seasons until 2008, earning two daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Legal Courtroom Program. Despite being loved by the audience, the show received mixed reviews from the critics. Glenda wrote a semi-autobiographical bestselling book entitled ‘’ Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say’’ published in 2004.
In 2006, she made her acting debut in ‘’ The Young and the Restless’’, and was a guest star on several TV shows as well, including in ‘’The Tyra Banks Show’’ and ‘’The Mo’nique Show’’ in 2008 and 2009 respectively. In the next year, Glenda appeared in an episode of ‘’Every Woman’’, a TV series documentary hosted by Byron Allen, before returning to writing in 2010, which resulted in another book, ‘’Dare to Take Charge: How to Live Your Life on Purpose’’. It outdid the success of her first book, and eventually became the number one National Bestseller.
In 2014, Hatchett created The Hatchett Firm, a company focused on Catastrophic Personal Injury, Class Action and Medical Malpractice lawsuits. As of her most recent projects, Glenda has been the hostess of ‘’The Verdict with Judge Hatchett’’, a legal TV show, praised by the audience and holding nine out of ten stars on IMDB. Glenda was subsequently named Distinguished Alumna at Mt. Holyoke College.
In her personal life, Glenda has two sons – Charles and Christopher. She is now divorced but refuses to reveal the identity of her ex-husband. Her daughter-in-law, Kyira Dixon Johnson died in April 2016 due to complications in childbirth. Kyira and Charles had already had one son.
