Hey girl, this sex toy will get you pregnant

For lesbian couples trying to conceive, “turkey baster” has long been the sterile watchword (that, or “pony up thousands of dollars to do it at the doctor’s office”).

But one enterprising young woman thought she could make the whole process more enjoyable — and less dependent on kitchen tools. Enter (so to speak) the Semenette, a sex toy that can ejaculate.

Yes, company founder Stephanie Berman — or “Spermin’ Berman” as she has said she’s known to friends — has invented a dildo for female couples that makes at-home insemination just another part of a hot night in bed. She spoke with The Post via email about the process of reinventing the reproductive process.

“When it came time for my wife and I to start the process, I quickly realized how few ideal options there were for us to conceive at home,” she says. “We didn’t have the financial means, or the desire, to have a doctor inseminate my wife — but the only things available to us were either a turkey baster or needle-less syringe. And yes, people really do use turkey basters!

“After making a few attempts at home, we were both really unfulfilled by the experience,” she says. “It was so impersonal, not romantic and just outright awful! I wanted more for us, and that’s when the idea for the Semenette began. I did a lot of research and finally had a working prototype my wife and I were able to use and try out. What a difference a dildo makes!”

The phallic-shaped Semenette, which has a side tube that can be squeezed at the key moment to deliver the goods, can be worn in a handy harness.

Of course, Berman had some experience in this department: Her family runs Sepal Reproductive, a business that specializes in assisted procreation. For the past 11 years, Berman has been working in the women’s reproductive health industry. The Semenette — the final product of all her at-home experimenting — has been a runaway hit, and a baby-making success, helping her launch her own company.

“The best part of our story is that after two attempts with the Semenette, we found out that my wife was pregnant. It was at that moment I realized I had a product that not only felt good, but actually worked!” she says.

And thus, Berman Innovations — as well as a baby daughter — was born.

Today, Berman says the Semenette is “flying off the shelves.”

“A little fun fact I learned,” she says, “is that one of the highest-ranked searches for sex toys is an ejaculating or squirting dildo. So that should tell you how sales of the Semenette have been.”

She’s currently working on a Semenette Version 2, which will be “non-anatomically-realistic, non-phallic and come in non-realistic colors,” for couples who are less interested in replicating the presence of a male in the process.

Ultimately, Berman says, she’s excited her invention is helping couples around the world conceive — and letting them have some good, sexy fun while doing it.

“In a world filled with huge corporations with deep pockets, you have to root for the underdog, and that’s me,” she says. “I’m a regular person who found a solution to a problem in her life — incorporating unique technology into something as simple as a sex toy.”
